Alaska State Flower

alaska state flower, forget me not, flower, alaska

The Alaska state flower is the Forget Me Not (Myosotis alpestris).

Having been to Alaska I can tell you that this is one of the most beautiful flowers to behold! It is such a refreshing sight when visiting this state and no wonder they declared it to symbolize Alaska. You'll know what I mean when you see it for yourself.

This beautiful little flower is frequently regarded as a symbol of friendship. I hope you can have the experience of a true friend giving you a real Forget Me Not as a symbol of your friendship. It's a very special flower.

The forget-me-not is a perennial herb that grows 5 to 12 inches high in alpine meadows. They have a white inner ring and a yellow center, light green leaves and clusters of the most beautiful sky-blue, pink or white flowers.

Forget-me-not flowers are very fragrant in the evening and night time, though there is very little scent in the daytime. The best time to see them is in midsummer, from late June to late July.

They are seen in rocky mountain areas, woods and human fields with altitudes of between 700 and 2800m. They are also an excellent remedy for many eye diseases.
