Merida Mexico, the beautiful old historic town to the northeast territory

So we were on our way to Merida Mexico in the Yucutan. We drove for 4 hours to get from the bottom of the valley to the top. On the way we listened to the music of Lila Downs on my favourite CD, La Cantina. That was an unforgettable experience! The Mexican music that kept us company through the beautiful mountains , will stay with me forever. The road zig zagged through green trees and plants, ferns, rolling countryside, etc. After 2 hours we were tired and stopped in a little Mexican town for coffee. The only reason we stopped there was because there was a 4 x 4 vehicle parked with a family that was eating inside and it looked as if they were thoroughly enjoying their meal. No one could speak English - well, we had the most awful coffee I have had in my life. It was lukewarm, weak and tasted like dirty water. We ordered quessidilla to stay on the safe side, but left more than half of it on the plate!!

Well, we left as soon as possible and that evening, arrived in the beautiful old historic town in the Yucutan. If you ever travel to Mexico, the Yucutan is that side with the most sacred sights, mostly of the Mayan Indians. We stayed for 2 nights in the "centro," within walking distance of the main square.
