Savannah Georgia has its own seductive charm
It is quiet on a Saturday afternoon in Savannah Georgia... This particular afternoon it is graduation day for the 3 Colleges in Savannah (largest one is Armstrong Atlantic State University)
We put our overnight bags down, slip on some walking shoes and were soon walking down the famous River Street next to the beautiful Savannah River. Many small restaurants, taverns, candy stores and gift shops were open and we passed Debi's Restaurant, the Oyster Bar, Mardi Gras on Bay, Alligator Soul Restaurant and Tubby's Tank House to name but a few!!The sidewalk was brimming with people and soon I was fascinated by the different kinds of people walking all around me ...
An urban masterpiece, Savannah is America's best walking city and the
history of Savannah
fascinated me. This romantic city has more than 1000 lovingly restored colonial homes and buildings.

America's first planned city, Savannah, was laid out in 1733 on a perfect grid of 24 large squares by its founder, British general James Oglethorpe.“White gold” (King Cotton) filled the port city's coffers with real gold , and handsome mansions prospered. For me it felt like I was
exploring Savannah
strolling through a Romance Novel Set in the Old South. We stayed in the
Savannah River Inn
on 412 West Williamson Street, which is absolutely wonderful ----- we could walk everywhere, as we were only 2 blocks away from the historical district!!!
