Travel to MEXICO and experience the magic

This was our first travel to Mexico. 2 Years ago we (my husband, Louis, and I) decided to start visiting sacred sights all around the world. We have travelled a lot over the last 15 years but never with the intention to visit sacred sites.

Let me tell you about my experiences in Mexico …….

We researched and realized that Mexico has a lot of ancient sacred sights and that we want to rent a car and travel for 10 days, covering most of Mexico!! We flew from Dallas to the small airport of Leon, north of Mexico City. I hate the big cities, always trying to avoid them when we travel. We arrived on a dusty hot afternoon in April and after 2 hours, we were on our way with our rented car, a not-so–new little Honda.

Our first stop was at San Miguel de Allende, a beautiful little colonial town, about 3 hours drive from Leon.

Before noon we left for the famous Pyramid of the Sun and the Moon at Teotihuacan, about 60 km east of Mexico City.

Soon after this we were on our way to the town of Oaxaca, which is situated below Puebla, south of Mexico City. If you ever travel to Mexico, Puebla is not a city that you want to spend any extra time in and we could not find anybody that could tell us which was the way to Oaxaca.. Eventually, somewhat desperate, we stopped at the roadside, pointed our finger at the spot on our road map and asked for directions and realized that our pronunciation of the word Oaxaca was totally wrong!!

The next day we were on our way to Merida in the Yucutan. We had to cross the beautiful Sierra Madre mountains again.

On the last morning we were off to the sacred site of Chichen Itza, a beautiful site built by the Mayans and later inhabited by the Toltecs and Aztecs. This was another 2 hours drive from Merida.

After taking in all this inspiring sacred energy, we went to the restaurant where we had a lovely cold beer and some sandwiches and headed back to our hotel in the heart of Merida. That night we walked around on the main plaza, selected an intimate and special little restaurant that was recommended by our hotel owner and said goodbye to Mexico!! What an unbelievable and beautiful experience!!!
